The water serves as a coolant to prevent the diamonds from \r\noverheating. The maximum allowable temperature for a diamond core bit is 500°C.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eThere is no pilot drill with the diamond core bit. A low rpm rotary drill \r\nwith a planetary gearbox is required to be used with a diamond core bit. It is \r\npossible to use a cordless drill, but in the lowest gear setting. No hammer \r\naction is used.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003col\u003e\r\n\t\u003cli\u003eTightly fasten the diamond core bit in the drill's chuck.\u003c\/li\u003e\r\n\t\u003cli\u003eKeep the bit steady at a 45° angle \r\n\twith the starting point on the edge of the assigned area to be \r\n\tdrilled whilst the bit is rotating.\u003c\/li\u003e\r\n\t\u003cli\u003eA notch will be made (this is normal). \r\n\tGradually move the drill from 45° to 90° and continue drilling until \r\n\tfinished.\u003c\/li\u003e\r\n\t\u003cli\u003eAllow the diamond core bit to cool down completely before proceeding to \r\n\tdrill another hole.\u003c\/li\u003e\r\n\u003c\/ol\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eWater can be applied by:\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cul\u003e\r\n\t\u003cli\u003espraying water on the surface,\u003c\/li\u003e\r\n\t\u003cli\u003eusing a wet sponge,\u003c\/li\u003e\r\n\t\u003cli\u003eattaching a water feed device.
